ᴀᴅʀᴇɴᴀʟɪɴᴇ ꜱᴛᴀʀᴛꜱ ᴛᴏ ꜰʟᴏᴡ, ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ᴛʀᴀꜱʜɪɴɢ ᴀʟʟ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ... Two festivals & a concert

... Acting like a maniac!

We all know how it goes.

I could have chosen Rattlehead to be on the title too... I respect it; so it deserve credit here.

Don't wear no leather to fit in

Don't wear no spikes to be cool

Don't want no woman beside him

Just make it fast, loud and rude

What I am planning now? Some would wonder.

Well, if I write down the lyrics of a song, I have a certain intention. Nothing is an accident... or, at least, not today. Today I am gonna present four events; two festivals and a concert.

Reading the lyrics (of whiplash)... I guess it wouldn't match completely. Not with a festival that was announced as "three days of peace an music".

But, what if...?

Exactly; we can't be quite sure until we review the material I've brought here first.

Let's start from the beggining.

A festival is an organized cultural program centered in a special topic (such as music, national celebrations, etc), that gathers persons in a spot, for many days. In the musical case, a festival is usually organized according to a single genre, commonly in the out-doors.
The festivals draw persons with something in common. This means that festivals are a point of "exchange" like no other.

A rainbow, a lot of memories and a sick noise.

(Produced by ABC Entertainment)
We are in the 70's. The fussion of hard rock, folk, progressive rock, country and funk and soul, was materialized here, featuring Rare Earth, The Eagles, Deep purple, Earth, wind and Fire, Black Oak Arkansas, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, etc, along with a crowd of aprox. 250.000 persons. Some paid for the entrance, some attended for free.

The event is taking place in Ontario, California; April 6th. Opened by Rare Earth and closed by Emerson, Lake & Farmer, this was one of the most memorable events of the decade.
Surely, the line-up was fire. Perhaps... literally fire.

All went without more problems than some poor broken amps., guitars, glasses and a camera; witnesses with bad trips, tons of garbage everywhere when the event ended and, maybe, 100 or more ears exploded.
Yes, the noise was fenomenal (they set a record thanks of a powerful sound system).

 (1969)

The hippie icon.

This festival is, in a way, totally different to the California Jam.
Not only because of the artists that were perfoming there, neither for the time, but for the method it was runned.

Sod, ideals against war, nudity; probably 500.000 persons who saw a festival that will be remembered forever. The name given leads us to Woodstock, a near place in which this idea was going to be located. Still, the festival was installed in a farm in Bethel, New York.

August, 1969. A large line - up included artists like Janis Joplin, Grateful dead, Ten years after, The Band, Jimi Hendrix , Santana, Creedence Crearwater Revival and The Who.

The original Woodstock was a "money waste" for its planners; s
uch a huge "celebration" only recauded 1,8 dollars... but spent something about 3,1 million.

This festival was succesful because of the magnitude of the artist and the public; not for the order. In conclusion, the Woodstock festival could have been a better one if it didn't had big mistakes.

What do you think about the festival? Had you ever heard the name "Woodstock" before?

 (1997)

Have I just read a whole sentence in spanish? What is this lie? Wasn't all suposed to be in english?
But hey, we're talking bout' Soda Stereo! And we are talking about their last tour concert, after they decided to break up...

The tour was held in four different countries; Mexico, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina.
Sadly, they didn't play in Colombia.
Sadly, I wasn't alive at the time to see them touring... (and if I was alive, probably I couldn't afford the price of the entrance or the ticket to travel to Venezuela, or someting, haha)

Well, leaving my all my sadnesses (and sleep) behind, I'd want to say W H Y did I choose this """play-list""" to show it to you right now.

Let's start this tail with a 0-years-old-me and my mom...

It won't work.

As you, my friend, should already know, I've been listening to Soda for a long time... such a long time that I just cannot remember (I was a fetus, please) when was the first time that I heard a single song of them.

Soda Stereo has this unique and special vibe that makes you comfortable and nostalgic at the same moment... a vibe that makes you wanna dance, but cry out in parallel.

(IMNOTGONNACRY IMNOTGONNACRY IMNOTGONNACRY)

Have you ever analized the efect music has on us?????
If not, you should. I could be ur... guinea pig? Or your study subject, I don't know.

AND THEN we recieve this. BOOM. I mean, zoom.
Seduction and sex, that's all. Besides, the video is pretty cool. You are able to f e e l the video. Or not?
I am not sure of what's the thing exploding (not literally) at the end of the song, but it evoke a different plane.

"Pruébame y verás que todos somos adictos..."
I'm terribly sorry for the gang that don't understand spanish.
But I'm more sorry for those who don't understand the lyrics of a song... speaking spanish (cofcofcofnotmecofcofwqkjw)

We are moving on. Again.

Magic. Spells, wizards, drugs, memories... Wait, did I write "drugs"?
Delete this.

Above all, memories. I'm taking the songs so personally (in some way); somebody else only would say:
"Who's this curly-haired guy?", or, "Do you understand something? Why do you like this?", and next, "Did ya see them live?"
The funny thing is that I only wonder why I am not able to return time.

(I prefer the 80's version, hehe)

Haha, that's crazy; but, in fact, I can feel moments and I can - kind of - revive them listening to Soda Stereo.

I remember playing with my old friends, my mother combing my hair when I was back in fourth grade, the television, the stairs, a park, a pink-hearted pillow, a bunch of Saturday's mornings, exams... something I can't describe lying in my stomach.
And it isn't a baby, calm down.

Basically, this songs have personality and have soul. And perhaps a half of the personality is "implanted" in me. :D
